| The Preacher needs help. Time wasn't on his
side and he's shot down, six bullets pumped into him on the steps of the church. One man holds the solution to all his problems, a man called Coleraine. Trouble was Coleraine was a mean sonofabitch and he'd as soon as spit on the Preacher than help him.
Soon one, or both, would die on the streets of Singing Wind Rise. This author fills her story with tough characters. The plot keeps you guessing and a number of twists add spice. All in all a tale that should grip and leave you feeling you've read a great book. Problem was none of the characters came over as very likeable. I also found it hard to believe that the Preacher could take six bullets, a couple in the gut, and be up and running around a couple of weeks later. The writing style
was a little hard to follow at times too, mainly 'And are you?' Coleraine nodded slowly. All this on one line. The spoken words by someone else. I found this difficult to follow as usually the other person's reaction, response would be a new paragraph, in fact in this example the next paragraph starts with Coleraine's spoken words. All this got me somewhat confused at times as to how was saying or doing what. Shame as this book had a interesting plot which was made difficult to follow and at times - the Preacher's recovery - quite unbelievable. |
